El rebozo is a traditionally woven, long shawl from Mexico, used for baby wearing, a tool for carrying heavy objects and for warmth.
How does it support?
El rebozo is also used by Indigenous midwives of Mexico to support laboring mamas, birthing people and beyond. The technique uses a sifting and rocking motion to release tension and support circulation in the spine, shoulders, neck & pelvis. Rebozo massage is helpful for recentering the pelvis, aligning the spinal column and promoting relaxation.

La Cerrada/ Closing of the Bones Ceremony
After a spiritual baño, the rebozo is used as a tool to cocoon the mother or any person who has experienced birth, loss or any big event that could be seen as a spiritual opening. It helps bring in the energy and also encourages the organs to move back into position postnatally.
What to Expect?
In a cerrada together, I hold space for you to be deeply witnessed and tended to through personalized ritual. We may work with the healing properties of water and steam, the grounding embrace of the rebozo, the guidance of plant allies, and the presence of your ancestors—all in service of your restoration, remembrance, and integration. I may offer a combination of a spiritual bath, fire cupping, rebozo massage as well as a space of compassionate listening.
Las Ventosas/ Firecupping
Fire cupping is a modality of healing using fire to create suction into glass cups that are placed on different acupressure points to promote blood flow and fascial release.
The suction of the cups promotes the expansion of blood vessels to increase circulation of energy, blood and oxygen throughout the body.
Although cupping therapy has been utilized cross culturally with origins as dating back as far as ancient Egypt, it is known today as a form of therapy primarily used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
