My name is Talyce Ketura (they/she) and I identify as a queer, gender-fluid, mixed Afro-Caribbean fem. I currently occupy unceeded Ohlone Land in Oakland, CA, and I serve clients both virtually and in person within my private practice as a full- spectrum doula, community herbalist, bodyworker and racial & reproductive justice educator. 

My journey with gestational care began in 2017 when I did my first training with Birthingway school of Midwifery in Maine. Since then, I’ve participated in other culturally specific trainings with Roots of Labor Birth Collective in Oakland, CA where we explored topics about natural & in-hospital birth support, postpartum care, lactation support, and cosmology from the Diaspora around birth and healing. Thereafter, my education lead me to Mexico & West Africa to explore ancestral postpartum healing techniques, lactation and pregnancy support.

 I have supported clients across the country with abortion support and have strengthened my toolkit in being able to provide unconditional care for pregnancy loss & abortion clients with Full Spectrum Doula. I have served many families throughout pregnancy, labor & postpartum within the Black community in partnership with Sacred Roots Doula of the Black Parent Initiative in Portland, OR, as well as developed intensive abortion doula & sex education curriculum for youth in partnership with organizations.

I continue to support within my private practice and in collaboration with organizers centered in accessible community care destigmatizing birth, death & beyond.

I feel passionate about this work because it brings me joy and purpose in knowing that at the end of the day I am able to provide support or a safer space for people to go through their myriad of experiences be it through birth, abortion, ancestral reconnection, intergenerational healing or any other kind of transformative process.
